Run 4 Your Cause

UPDATE:

It was an early morning for all that attended. Some had to be there for 7:30 am to set up.

Our volunteers were wonderful. We had 3 new volunteers plus one of our admins volunteer for this event. Thank you ladies! Nice meeting you and you all did an awesome job!

We had  7 runners register for sure and was told there was 1 or 2 that registered late. We won’t find out the outcome till the end of November 2018.

I was able to meet and thank 4 of our runners. They were awesome people too. One young man ran because his mother told him about the run and he checked the list of Causes to run for and he picked us because his mother watches our page all the time. How awesome is that! I could not express enough to him how much this meant to WLDA. We do not know who all ran for us because of privacy issues, but our Treasurer will find out when they get the list of people to issue tax receipts. We will make sure to thank them then, if not earlier.

We made $187.38 at this event, thanks to our wonderful runners.

We will be doing this again next year, and because we know about it now, we will sign up earlier and give everyone more notice to Run 4 Our Cause next year! See you then.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Winnipeg Lost Dog Alert’s fundraiser this year will be our RUN 4 YOUR CAUSE EVENT. This fundraiser is to help us purchase another microchip reader. We do have one now, but we are in need of more so we can have one in each corner of our city. Eventually we could expand to other city/towns in our province, but for now, we are focusing on purchasing just one. Anything left over from this event will help us with our other expenses.

We really need your help to make this a success. You can walk if you don’t want to run. The reason for wanting these readers all over the city is to help get found dogs home faster. We will go to the finder with our reader to see if the dog has a chip. If it does then we will call the chip database company to get the owner’s information. Then we will call the owner and give them the finder’s information. The finder will not have to take the found dog to the nearest vet to see if there is a chip, we go to them. Saves the dog from getting away from the finders at the vet’s and now being lost in a different location.

LID575 Reader is extremely useful while scanning all animals, including livestock. It has the largest reading distance and detection area of the readers in the LID5xx series. This reader scans for several different frequencies, stores the microchip numbers and can communicate with a PC via USB (standard) or Bluetooth (on request). $499 Example of one we wish to purchase.

$20 from these fees comes to us when you register under our name and we will issue you a tax receipt!

Tri 3.3K is great for people that want to walk or run. Works out to be about a 40-minute walk.

Awesome Twosome is a fun one. If you don’t have a partner to run the Awesome Twosome with you, don’t worry, there will be others looking for a partner and you will be partnered up with one of them. How it works is one partner runs one way and the other partner runs the other way. They meet again at the finish line. Their age is added up together to find out what category they are in. For example, if one partner is 35 years old and the other is 60 years old, the total will be 95 and that is the category you will be in.

Happy Feet Dash is a fun run for the kids and will be held on a grassy area.
