National ID Your Pet Week

It is also the law to have your pets licensed in the city of Winnipeg.

As Animal Services says on their website… Avoid the fine, license your canine. You know what you have to do to avoid the $250 fine.

How many dogs that were found/spotted and posted on our Facebook page that did not have tags? Too many. Why is that? There is no reason why your pet should not have any ID on them. Things do happen and it only takes a split second for your baby to escape and go on a walk on their own.

Please make sure your dog has some kind of ID on them. Preferably a city license but something. It makes it hard for the finders to find you when your dog does not have an ID or the ID has the wrong information.

Take the time now to call your vet, groomers, microchip company, City of Winnipeg or anyone else to make sure all your information is up to date. Even if you have not moved or have had the same phone number for years, check anyway.  We have heard stories that just one number was wrong or their information was never put in the database in the first place. Do it now!

Database companies (vets, Animal Services, Winnipeg Humane Society, microchip companies) cannot help the finder if they have the wrong phone number and or address.
